![]() ![]() I imagine that within any given movement, though, there comes a time when some sufficiently large number of people - a majority in fact or at least in voice - decides that they’ve carried things as far as they want to, that any further change, any further speculating, is as likely to impact them for the worse as for the better. ![]() What are those odd looking animals, where did they come from where did we come from what are those flashes of light in the darkness? Looking at the earliest stories we have record of, we can always see several purposes at work: stories existed to inform to entertain and, from the start, stories have existed at the level of myth to theorize, to suggest and test possibilities about the unknown elements of the world that we see and experience. ![]() ![]() ![]() Are you ready to accept your destiny?”It's silly, but if Harper hadn't forgotten her lip gloss, this never would have happened. ![]() If you don't mind the love triangle, I would recommend this book, because it was seriously sweet, as in the "I just ate a half pound of French chocolate truffles, but who cares, bitches, they're TRUFFLES!" sort of sweet. Why did it need a love triangle? Why could she not protect one guy and be his friend while remaining with her current boyfriend?! Why?! There was no fucking point to this love triangle. Not since Unearthly has a love triangle been so dragged out to agonizing nonresolution until the very fucking end. ![]() ![]() But seriously, there was no fucking point to the love triangle, and I wanted to bash my head in every time the WONDERFUL BESTEST BOYFRIEND EVER Ryan clashed with BROODING HIPSTER ASSHOLE (with a heart of gold) David. I absolutely adored the main character, the relationships and the friendships were wonderfully written, the high school kids were just plain cute. Nothing of importance happens in this book. This book may be really, really cute, but overall, it's just an overextended love triangle without much of a plot. I did not have butterflies over David Stark.25% of the way in, I was sure I would give this book a 4, but I ended up wanting to fling this book at Harper's head. Once again, my chest tightened, and there was that weird fluttering sensation that was like butterflies. ![]() ![]() The message it delivers is much needed in the world at this moment, fight dark with light, evil with good and don't be afraid to stand up for what you believe in. There is true magic in this book, I feel so grateful to have been able to read and enjoy it. They will soon discover the show's awful mystery-a mystery that will change the life of every person it touches-in this stunning masterwork of dark fantasy by Ray Bradbury. And the characters - Mr Dark, Mr Cooger and their clan are spectacular how the tents are erected, the balloon, the carousel - just everything is nothing that I have ever had the pleasure to read about before. Something Wicked This Way Comes is the story of two boys who encounter the sinister wonders of Cooger and Dark's Pandemonium Shadow Show. The words and expressionism he uses are captivating, magical even. Yes I have read horror stories involving carnivals and funfairs, I love them BUT I have never read anything in the style that Ray Bradbury writes. ![]() Described as a Horror/Fantasy novel with a hypnotic poetic style of writing, I have to say I have never read anything quite like it. It took me just two days because I could not put it down. Through diary entries and official reports to his home planet, Bumpfizzle cleverly upholds his ruse. (If you are reading this book aloud, I recommend beginning in your best alien voice and then letting it fade as the narrator’s reliability comes into question.)
